Rail signalling and telecoms services provider Fenix Rail Systems is set to establish itself in Australasia with the opening of a new office in Sydney, Australia.
Fenix Australasia will be led by Regional Director Mark Quintana, who has extensive experience of the rail industry in this sub region. Mark’s successful and very well-established business, Pure Advisory (PTY Ltd.), will be incorporated into the new Fenix Australasia business.
Craig Purcell, CEO of Fenix Rail Systems, said: “These are very exciting times in the growth and development of Fenix. We are delighted to be establishing ourselves in Australasia with the formation of this business and the opening of our new office in Darling Harbour, Sydney.
“This development significantly enhances our rail infrastructure engineering capability to take to the global market. This includes a dual offering of consultancy services and rail systems and technology for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning phases of our clients’ major projects.
“The appointment of Mark, who has vast experience and a strong network of rail industry contacts across the Australian continent, is an indication that we mean business.”
Mark Quintana said: “I am relishing the challenge that the role of Regional Director for Fenix Australasia will bring. There are vast opportunities in the region, not least in Australia where a number of long-term, nation-building infrastructure projects have been identified. The nation needs to continually invest in rail infrastructure in order to meet growing passenger and freight needs and connect people to communities. These are very exciting times indeed.
“Our offer in Australasia will enable us to have a significant impact on the huge range of rail projects that will be delivered in the coming years. We will also establish local partners for signalling and communications installation activities. In Australia specifically, there is a high level of political and financial support for the development of the country’s rail network. It is absolutely right in terms of the development of Fenix to establish ourselves in this market.”
The Australian Government is delivering a $20 billion investment in rail to cut congestion in cities, grow the regions and boost the national economy.
This long-term investment includes a $10 billion National Rail programme for urban and regional passenger rail projects. An additional $8.4 billion is earmarked to build the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail, the Commonwealth’s biggest rail project in 100 years.
The Government has also committed investment to support the development of business cases for faster rail connections between major cities and regional centres and is partnering with State Governments to progress transformative rail projects. Independent statutory body Infrastructure Australia’s Infrastructure Priority List makes a clear case for the need for further investment in public transport and freight rail across Australia.
Mark Quintana has over 17 years’ experience in senior business development and leadership roles.
Whatever your signalling or telecoms requirements may be, Fenix Rail Systems has the railway industry experience and expertise to make your project a success.
