MEET LEWIS - PRINCIPLES SIGNALLING DESIGNER AT FENIX RAIL SYSTEMS

Lewis joined Fenix in 2020, bringing his passion for signalling design, travel, and adventure. Since then, he’s played a leading role in some of our biggest Depot Control System projects, both in the UK and internationally.

Starting his career in 2013 with Carillion, Lewis worked his way up from trainee to qualified IRSE Signalling Designer, gaining hands-on experience on projects like Horsham Stabling Sidings and Cricklewood Depot.

His journey then took him to Australia, where he contributed to the Ballarat Line Upgrade before returning to the UK and joining Fenix. Here, Lewis helped deliver the Gosforth Depot transformation, moving from a relay-based system to our advanced Fenlock400 Depot Control System.

After exploring over 20 countries (with Fenix’s full support!), Lewis returned in 2024 and has since acquired his Principles Signalling Designer Licence and continued to flourish by leading the Soho Depot Locally Operated Points System (LOPS) project.

With his sights now set on becoming a Signalling Verifier, Lewis continues to help shape the next generation of depot control systems, working closely with one of our product partners Hanning & Kahl for the FenLock next generation systems

At Fenix, we’re proud to support engineers like Lewis who bring curiosity, skill, and energy to every challenge.
