Chan Sow Lin Modifications

CLIENT: Ampang Line Extension Project
LOCATION: Malaysia

Fenix South East Asia (then named MGB Systems) was tasked with designing, installing, testing and commissioning alterations to an existing interlocking at Chan Sow Lin station as part of the light rail transit (LRT) 2 Ampang Line.

Work was carried out at the junction of two LRT lines in Kuala Lumpur: Sentul Timor to Sri Petaling/Putra Heights and Chan Sow Lin to Ampang. Alterations were made to the existing interlocking so that CBTC services could commence between the former, while existing services continued from the latter using the existing signalling legacy system.

Fenix was responsible for the provision the concept design report; test and commissioning strategy plan; and final design report, followed by delivery of detailed design; installation and supervision; and test and commissioning activities. In addition, the company was responsible for IV&V assurance, covering the review of safetycritical design as well as witnessing, auditing and T&C certificate sign off.

The Ampang metro line has been extended by 17.7km, creating 11 new stations. It currently has a ridership of around 200,000, with this extension project expected to increase that number to 400,000 passengers.
