Fenix Signalling shortlisted in Most Interesting Awards 2016

Fenix Signalling is one of six organisations shortlisted for the ‘Most Interesting Thing We Saw’ award – one of the categories in the Most Interesting Awards 2016, the !nal event in the Rail Exec calendar.

Fenix was nominated with Telent for its use of helicopters to deliver equipment to remote areas, during the major RETB upgrade project in the West Highlands of Scotland. Rail Media said the following about the solution: “Railways are often in locations that are otherwise inaccessible. But few places are as hard to reach as White Corries in the Glencoe ski resort.

There is no railway, but there is a radio base station for the railway’s RETB system in Scotland. Principal contractor Telent, working with Fenix Signalling and Comms Design Limited, had the challenge of getting new equipment, including location cases, to this remote site.

The answer? Using helicopters to deliver equipment to remote areas. SkyHook Helicopters was brought in, and the location cases were soon on location.” (Rail Engineer page 55, issue 140, June 2016) The Rail Exec Gala dinner and award ceremony will take place on 1 st December at The Roundhouse in Derby. It will be host to over 600 professionals who will enjoy the opportunity to network with like-minded people.
